Georgia Legal Services Program, a nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal services to Georgians who cannot afford an attorney, offers free 30 minute consultations. Eligible community members schedule an appointment at the Cartersville Library Reference Desk, 770-382-4203, ext. 138, then meet with an attorney in person, one-on-one, ask questions, and get free legal advice.

Wanda Patterson shares the fascinating story of 29 Navajos who created a secret code using words from their complex, unwritten language to baffle the Japanese enemy in the Pacific. The skill, speed, and accuracy of the “code talkers” is an amazing story of Navajo bravery and ingenuity which remained classified until 1968, but is now receiving the recognition it so richly deserves.
